Abstract

In a method of manufacturing a shaped component, cast iron powder is moulded and sintered, whereafter the moulded and sintered material is forged into a desired shape and then re-sintered. Copper, aluminium or titanium powder may be added to the cast iron powder. The forging may be effected immediately after sintering while still hot, or the compact may be reheated prior to forging.
