Abstract

A gelling agent comprises a water-soluble organic solvent (such as an acid) and at least one ethoxylated fatty amine of the formula: <IMAGE> in which R is an aliphatic group having 8 to 22 carbon atoms and x and y are each up to 10. The gelling agent is used for gelling aqueous solutions of inorganic acids; these gelled solutions are particularly suitable for acidizing subterranean well formations.
