Abstract
Provided are methods for diagnosing lung cancer in a subject or for identifying a subject at risk of developing lung cancer, the method comprising performing FTIR spectral analysis of a sputum sample obtained from the subject and comparing the spectrum produced from the sample with an FTIR spectrum from a normal control. Also provided are methods for detecting early and late stage cancer, methods for monitoring the progression of lung cancer in a subject and kits for use in the described methods.
