Abstract

A mobile materials handling apparatus comprising a support chassis 2 mounted on ground engaging wheels or tracks. The support chassis 2 comprising a front end 2a, a rear end and sides 2b extending there between. Where the mobile materials handling apparatus 1 further comprises buffer means 6, which may be a roller or wheel suspended below the support chassis 2. The buffer means 6 being adapted to prevent the chassis 2 from grounding when the materials handling apparatus ascends or descends an incline. Preferably, the buffer means 6 comprises a roller which in use ensures that separation of overhanging portion or portions of the chassis 2 from the ground or other surfaces is maintained when the mobile materials handling apparatus ascends or descends and inclined surface or traverses uneven terrain. The roller 6 may be freely rotatable or driven which may be motive hydraulic drive means provided for driving the vehicle 1. Optionally the roller 6 extends across the width of the vehicle 1.
