Abstract

A method for interrupting an inductive load in a three-phase, high voltage network by means of a switch having a quick dielectric recovery, in particular a vacuum switch, without the occurrence of current "chopping", comprises delaying interruption of two of the phases relative to that of the other phase by an interval equal to at least 1/3 of a cycle plus the minimum arcing time in the undelayed phase. A cam-actuated switch may be modified to provide the requisite delay.
