Abstract

A process for the washing of textiles without loss of detergent in a washing machine which has a fixed liquor tank 4 and rotatable horizontal washing drum 5, in which after the onset of the washing-in of the detergent from a dispenser 2 and for a period of time lasting at least one minute and ending at the latest with the discharge of the washing liquor, the liquor is removed by suction at the lowest point of the liquor tank and returned to the tank at a higher point, the quantity of liquid transported being at least 5 litres. Suction is applied by a pump 9 and a fluff sieve 7 is provided. A stand- pipe 10 connects the pump 9 to a three-way valve 11 which can return wash liquor to the tank 4 through a pipe 12 or discharge spent liquor through a pipe 14. In modifications, the pipe 12 returns wash liquor to a flexible inlet pipe 3 or the pipe 10 leads straight to an injection nozzle for fresh water in the dispenser 2. <IMAGE>
