Abstract
A switch such as a thyristor Th or a triac is biassed by a voltage e.g. 350 mV or current which will not turn it on at a normal temperature. As temperature increases, the bias required to turn on a thyristor reduces, so eventually it turns on in response to its bias. Once on, the thyristor stays on unless current through it becomes less than the minimum holding current value. Simple threshold circuits in which the thyristor turns on at a set temperature are described as well as &cirf& a rate-of-rise sensitive circuit. <IMAGE>
