Abstract
201,100. Vaughan, E. B. Dec. 9, 1922. Confectionery; icecreams; waffle baking- apparatus.-A confection consists of a hard. frozen core 14 and a covering 13 of material which is applied in an unbaked condition and is baked quickly without deleterious effect on the core. Half-moulds 10, 11 are lined with batter, marshmallow, or other suitable substance, the core 14 is placed in the mould 10 and the mould 11 is inverted and positioned to enclose the core. A dry heat is then applied. The finished confection after wrapping is removed to cold storage where the core is again frozen hard. A coating of chocolate may be applied to the baked envelope. Ribs may be formed on the confection by grooves 18, 19 in the moulds. The cores may be coated by rolling them in batter which is baked by rolling on a hot plate. In this process the batter-covered core may be rolled in shredded. cocoanut prior to baking.
