Abstract

For use in a clothes washing machine and in order to be able to make a stainless steel tub on the same forming equipment as used for enamelled tubs, a stainless steel tub 6 comprises a casing 9, preferably frusto- conical, and having one end open to permit access to the machine drum 5 and its other end closed by a metal bottom 14, welded to the casing. All the components which are conventionally mounted on the casing of the tub e.g. the tub suspension (7) and balancing means (19) and the drum cross piece (18) are in the present tub mounted on a drawn metal shell 12 fitted over the casing 9 and the tub bottom 14. <IMAGE>
