Abstract

An ice tray for keeping ice in a usable condition for extended periods of time comprises a hollow base (10) containing a liquid e.g. sodium carboxy methyl cellulose plus an antifungicide, which preferably has a latent heat of fusion higher than water. The base (10) has an outer recess (11) for receiving water to be frozen. The recess is preferably provided with ribs (13, 14, 15) to subdivide the recess and define the shape of ice blocks to be formed. <IMAGE>
