Abstract

An apparatus for producing printed strips from a web of paper comprises only one matrix print head 1, a printing abutment comprising a drum 8 which is drivable in one direction and carries sheets cut from a web 53 to the head 1, a plurality of pressing rollers 9a -d on the drum 8 and a gripping member 10 located in a recess 39 in the drum casing, with the periphery of the drum minus the width of the recess corresponding at least to the length of the strip. Each rotation of the drum produces one printed line down the length of the strip and between rotations the head 1 is displaced parallel to the axis of the drum 8. <IMAGE>
