Abstract

Fine-grained to coarse-grained or fibrous fuels of organic origin are processed with omnidirectional relative movements of the fuel particles and gasifying agent in a fluidised bed under such conditions that the fuel gas product is entirely, or substantially, free from contents of heavy hydrocarbon, hydrocarbon compounds, substances which form tarlike condensates when cooled below their dew point temperature, as well as phenols and phenol compounds. These conditions can be adjusted such that the height of the fluidised bed is maintained below an upper limit at which the fluidised bed is torn open more than locally, and such that the height of the fluidised bed is maintained above a lower limit at which the fuel gas still contains the abovementioned substances.
