Abstract
An ejector release unit for aircraft use comprises a pair of ejection guns 68 and an associated pair of pivoted hooks 1 held in the closed position by respective linkages 2 which are capable of independent movement to a braced position and mechanism for the simultaneous release of both linkages. Each hook is formed with a portion 8 for engagement with its respective lug on the store as the store is raised to the loading position, thereby turning the respective hook 1 to the closed position and simultaneously moving the associated linkage 2 to the braced position. The linkages are preferably such that they can be moved from the braced position by the weight of a store and a mechanical lock 12 is provided for holding each linkage in the braced position. These mechanical locks are released by a piston operated by the pressure gas generated by firing of an explosive cartridge for the ejection gun, the piston then moving the linkages 2 to open the hooks. An electrically operated secondary operating mechanism 22-25 may also be provided. A safety lock pin 35 may be provided for the release mechanism, being inter-connected by way of an interlock linkage 43-57 to an automatic sway brace assembly 33 which is thus brought into action when the safety lock pin is inserted at the completion of loading. <IMAGE>
