Abstract

To detect the presence of cooling disturbances in a nuclear reactor fuel element, the coolant output temperature from the fuel element is monitored, together with other parameters, such as the flow velocity of the coolant, the coolant input temperature and the output of the reactor, which affect the coolant output temperature. These other parameters are then used to modify and correct the coolant output temperature signal, by an electronic circuit, to produce a signal, changes in which being substantially caused by cooling disturbances.
