Abstract

Directly after galvanisation the product is subjected to chemical solubilization of aluminium oxide contained as an impurity in the galvanised surface layer. This improves corrosion resistance. The treatment may be carried out prior to or simultaneously with passivation. The chemical treatment is effected with acid or alkali solutions such as HF or NaOH.
