Abstract

Overbite in dentistry is the vertical overlap of the upper front teeth to the lower front teeth when the mouth is closed. A calibrated gauge to measure overbite, Fig. 4, is made of metal or plastic and comprises two 'L' shaped sections as shown, the smaller section being adjustable vertically against the other larger or handle section in a slot provided for it. The end of the handle may be calibrated and provided with caliper jaws or pointers taking other measurements e.g. the horizontal distance between the top and bottom front teeth. <IMAGE>
