Bakers' ovens.-Belates to bakers' ovens of the reel type. and comprises modifications mainly in the means for setting and withdrawing the goods. The reel consists of end rings 3 mounted on rollers 4 and connected by tubes 7, from which depend stirrups 8 supporting heavy metal baking-plates 9. In one end wall 2 of the oven is a doorway 14 through which the baking-plates with the goods are inserted and withdrawn, and to facilitate the manipulation of the plates each is lifted clear of its supporting stirrup when it comes into alignment with the door by rollers 15 on a frame 16 operated by a hand lever 19 through links 18. The plates are correctly positioned in the stirrup by a stop 22, which is raised by the frame 16 into the path of the plates, and a pusher 23 on the lever 19. The reel is rotated by pinions 11 on a shaft 10, and to prevent rotation of this. shaft when the frame 16 is raised, and to prevent lifting of the frame when a baking-plate is not in alignment with the door, the lever 19 is arranged to straddle a handle 21<1> on the shaft 10 so that neither lever nor shaft can be operated unless the other is correctly positioned. The reel is driven from a chain wheel 26 through a clutch operated by a rod 24 passing through the shaft 10. The oven is heated by a self-burning gaseous mixturesupplied through burners 12, 13 arranged within and below the reel, and the products of combustion are exhausted from a point near the bottom of the oven chamber through a vertical flue 28. Escape of steam from the oven is controlled by a valve 29, and above this in the flue 28 is a main controlling damper 31 operated by rod 33 carrying stops 34.
