Abstract

A hay tedder formed as a detachable implement for a mowing machine is afforded a lighter and cheaper construction by its use of tines (17) comprising leaf springs combined in pairs and fixed to the tool shaft (16) so as to be resiliently deflectable in the direction of its axis of rotation to absorb shock loads. To further assist the absorption of shocks, an elastomeric coupling (26, 27) is provided at the driven end of the tool shaft between a drive pin (28) and a drive flange (29) and the shaft is attached at its opposite end by a further coupling flange (22) to a flange (24) whereby the tool shaft can be removed as a unit when tedding is not required. A load-break member (not shown) may be included in the chain drive to the chain wheel (38) to further protect the machine against shock load damage. <IMAGE>
