Abstract

A precision seed drill capable of performing most seeding techniques, that is conventional or direct seeding, narrow or wide row spacing, random or precision seeding, comprises at least one device for opening-up the soil to take the seed, for example a slit cutting disc (1) followed by an inclined pair or slit-widening discs (9); a precision seeding mechanism (3) adjacent each soil opening-up device; and seed conduit for feeding seed to each mechanism (3) from a seed storage hopper (4). The seeding mechanism (3) comprises a vertical plate rotatable about a horizontal axis, and provided with apertures in which seeds are held by suction until release. <IMAGE>
