Abstract

198,493. Bennis, A. W. March 25, 1922. Grates.-In a travelling chain-grate having pivoted links the overlapping ends of which are reduced to half width, the abutting inner surfaces of the ends of adjacent links are provided with inclined air passages 8, Figs. 1, 3, and are chamfered at 10 to provide further air passages between the links. The abutting outer surfaces of the ends of adjacent links are provided with bosses 7 surrounding the holes 5 which receive the pivot pins 6. The sides of the links are preferably corrugated and they may be provided with projections 11 and recesses 12 as described in Specification 15222/14.
