Abstract

196,465. Whittle, O. L. March 30, 1922. Belts.-In a driving-belt for motorcar fan and dynamo drives, motorcycles, &c., tapered blocks 1, 1<a> of leather, vulcanized fibre, &c. are fixed by screws 4 to opposite sides of a 'band 2 composed of overlapping flat springy steel sections which are slightly curved in manufacture and formed with perforations through which the screws pass. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, each pair of blocks 1, 1<a> is secured to bands or lengths of spring wire 2 by a single central screw 4.
