Abstract

194,883. Goode, C. S. Feb. 6, 1922. Vacuum tubes.-A valve having three electrodes arranged in planes parallel with the axis of the bulb, is provided with a permanent or electromagnet or other means for producing a magnetic field, mounted on the bulb and capable of rotation around the bulb so as to control the current in the valve. A horse-shoe magnet M has a conical recess fitting over a conical cap C mounted on the pip of the bulb P, the poles being preferably at the level of the middle of the electrodes. The magnet is removable and may be provided with means for keeping it in any adjusted position. A filament F, a zig-zag grid G and a plate anode A are supported by wires.
