Abstract
194,390. Rosenberg, B. Dec. 9, 1921. Opening by cutting; spouts.-A spout adapted to be attached to a petrol tin &c. comprises a tubular body 1 containing a chamois-leather filtering cone 2 supported on a gauze 4, and vent tubes 18 by-passing the filter as shown in Fig. 2, and arranged so as to afford a grip for manipulating the spout. The connection with the' body may be by means of an adapter 7, Fig. 1, secured on the usual screwed mouth of the can, or bv means of piercing points 10 and cutting edges 11 forming a hole in which a screw-thread 12 takes, the joint being made tight by a washer 13. When this device is used with a screw-top can the washer 13 is omitted, the joint then being made by a thin washer 14. A dust cap 9 may be provided with the adapter 7. The ends 16 of the vent tubes may form a stop which ensures that the last stage of cutting out the hole in the tin must take place by rotation to ensure that the thread is not driven into the tin. The spout is completed by a hose member 20 and a nozzle 21 and either a cap 22, Fig. 1, or a second strainer 27, Fig. 3, the arrangement in the second case being such that the part 21 is held by a clip to the body 1, the hose part being then sharply bent at 25 to form a seal so that the spout mav be left on the can. Specifications 177,924 and 186,183 are referred to.
