Pistons; piston packing. -In a piston for a singleacting compressor or internal-combustion engine, having one or more packing-rings of rectangular section contained in grooves of similar crosssection, the edges D<4>, A<4> of the packing and groove facing towards the piston head are bevelled or rounded, in order to prevent a scraping action during the upward stroke, while permitting it during the downward stroke, thus minimizing the passage of oil past the piston.
