Fixed - abutment type. - Comprises a rotary pump having outwardly sliding vanes 11 ... 14 located in non-radial pockets in a rotor 7 within a casing 1 having inlet and outlet conduits 2, 3. The pockets incline away from the pressure in front of the vanes, and grooves 26 are provided extending to the bottom of the pockets so that the fluid under pressure, together with the centrifugal force and the friction at the tip of the vanes, tends to force the vanes outwards. If the pump is accidentally reversed, the suction in the pockets below the vanes withdraws the vanes and renders the pump inoperative. The ends of the vanes may be rectangular &c. instead of bevelled. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) comprises also a statement to the effect that the vanes may be located in radial pockets; this subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
