Abstract
15,834. McDowell, J. T. Nov. 9. Reinforced concrete.-Wire or like reinforcements G are held in the desired position in the mould by a bar or frame A which is bent to fit over the top of the mould and has a pair of plates H secured to the underside and projecting into the mould; the plates are formed with notches I, and the wires G are held therein by one, two, or more hooked bolts B, which are tightened by fly-nuts and lie. between the plates H. The upper ends of the bolts are hooked in the same direction as the lower ends to act as indicators, and the bolts are withdrawn from the wires, before the concrete sets, by turning them approximately half round and raising them; the frames and bolts can then be removed from the mould. Any number of frames may be used in moulding a post, beam, &c.
