15,751. Imray, O., [Society of Chemical Industry in Basle]. Nov. 8. Gallocyanines, chromium compounds of. Chromium compounds are obtained by treating aqueous solutions or suspensions of gallocyanines with chromium salts or chromates; the products either crystallize out from the solution or are salted out. Chromic acetate, chloride, fluoride, or sulphate, or sodium bichromate are suitable reagents; sodium acetate, with or without acetic acid, may be added to the reaction mixture. Examples are given of the production of chromium compounds of gallocyanine, gallamine blue, coelestine blue, modern violet, and the brominated gallamine blue described in example 1 of Specification 14,159/15; phenocyanines, modern cyanines, chrome cyanines, coreines, ultracyanines, delphine blue, chromacetine blue, and the sulphurized gallocyanines described in Specification 2837/15, are also mentioned as parent dyes. The products can be converted into lenco compounds by the usual methods, for example by means of zinc and hydrochloric acid. The products and their lenco compounds can be used for printing cotton, wool, or silk, without mordants.
