Abstract

10,295. Grafton, W. July 15. Plug cocks; strainers, applications of. - A gas cock for gas-fires &c. is fitted with a screen in the form of a perforated diaphragm or gauze, of metallic or non-metallic material such as steatite, magnesia, fire-clay, cottonwool, &c., so arranged that the gas is screened at least twice in its passage through the cock, and eddies in the gas current thereby damped out. In the arrangement shown, the gauze 1 is of conical form arranged within the plug 2. The plug is formed with an integral handle 9 and is held in position by a plate 10. A through-way form of cock is also shown, with a removable handle for the insertion of the gauze within the plug.
