Abstract

10,040. Lipinski, A. V. July 9, 1914, [Convention date]. Air and gas pressure sprayers.-Apparatus for atomizing viscous liquids, more particularly applicable to burners, comprises a tube along which the liquid is distributed in a thin film on which impinge jets of gaseous atomizing- fluid under pressure, and the mixture of atomizing-fluid and liquid thus formed is distributed in one or more passages leading to the outlet orifice, which passages increase, or at least remain constant, in cross-sectional area towards the outlet orifice. Fig. 1 shows an apparatus in which liquid is led in a thin film between the tubes 1, 2 and air under pressure is directed on to the film through the ports 4, the mixture passing down the passages 5, which increase in area towards the outlet 6. The passage 5 may be divided up by means of webs into a number of parts. Fig. 4 shows a form in which the liquid is led into the two passages between the tubes 2, 11, and 11, 10 respectively, when it is similarly atomized by gas passing through the ports 4, 12. Fig. 6 shows a form in which the liquid passes down the pin 20, where jets 26 impinge on the liquid, which is discharged down the opening 6. Fig. 8 shows a form in which the liquid is led down the passage between the tube 17 and member 16, and through the helical passages 15<a>, where it is atomized by means of jets 22, 23 and escapes through the opening 21.
