Abstract

2876. Crossley, Sir. R. I., and Webb, W. le P. Feb. 23. Cycles and systems of working; materials, actuating.-The invention relates to two- or fourstroke engines in which tar oil, alcohol, or other liquid fuel having a high flash-point, or a high h specific gravity, is used and is ignited by means of a small quantity of a more easily ignitable oil, both being sprayed into the combustion chamber without the aid of compressed.air. The ignition and power oils may be sprayed through two separate sprayers arranged in the same or separate casings and each fitted with a delivery valve of the loaded piston type, or a single sprayer may be used.
