2494. Alger, H. C. Feb. 16. Liquid-meters.- Relates to the type of weir meter in which the weir opening is formed in a plate which is curved in such a way that the rate of flow is proportional to the head, and consists in forming laterally-extending narrow strips about the edges of the opening. In the form shown, the plate 1<1> having an opening 2<1> is fixed over an opening in the bottom of a tank. Walls 3<1>, 4<1>, 5<1>, 6<1> extend vertically upwards from the edges of the opening, and narrow strips 7<1>, 8<1>, 9<1> project inwards to form the weir opening. The liquid thus falls clear of the vertical walls. The strips are curved to a form which is substantially cycloidal.
