Abstract

494. Lelarge, H. A. A. J. Jan. 13, 1914, [Convention date]. Void. [Published under Section 91 of the Act.] Spray carburettors. -Fuel from the float chamber 7 passes through a constricted orifice 8 into a chamber 9, which communicates by a passage 6 and holes 4 with the induction passage 1, 2 on the air-inlet side of the spraying-orifice 13. The nozzle 17, which is fed from the chamber 9 through the conduit 10, is surrounded by an airtube 12 and has above it a conical baffle 11. The nozzle orifice is situated at a more constricted part of the passage 1, 2 than the holes 4, so that the reduction of pressure in the chamber 9 is not so great as that at the nozzle. The passage around the nozzle is varied by an iris diaphragm 3. A diagrammatic arrangement of the carburettor is also shown, in which, around the holes 4, an annular chamber is provided which may have an automatic or hand-actuated extra-air valve ; the pipe 10 also may communicate with the induction pipe between the air inlet and the spraying point.
