222. Devlin, J. H. Jan. 6. [Cognate Application, 5253/15.] Tyre and like inflating valves.-An inflating-valve for use with pneumatic life - saving apparatus, sponge substitutes, and polishing- pads has the upper part or mouthpiece 11 of the screw-down valve member 10 formed with a sleeve extending downwardly so as to embrace the upper tubular portion 1 of the seating member. The sleeve has a milled flange 14 to facilitate s c r e w i n g the valve down during the operation of inflation. The valve plug 7 has a central perforation 8 which passes out laterally through holes 9 abuve the valve member 10, a pin 12 securing the plug in position in the mouthpiece. The stop-pin 16 for limiting the upward movement of the valve is formed without a head, the pin being adjusted through a hole 17 in the flange 14. In modifications, the mouthpiece does not rotate as the valve is screwed down, while the perforated plug of the valve may be arranged to act as the seating member. According to the invention described in the Provisional Specification 5253/15, various arrangements are described for reducing the weight of the sleeve, for example connecting it to the mouthpiece by wires.
