Abstract

Heating liquids; boiling - pans. - A combined steam and electric heating or cooking apparatus is described with special reference to steam cooking and heating apparatus for use on trains, ships, &c., wherein live or exhaust steam, for example from the locomotive, is supplied to the apparatus, its effect being supplemented by electric heaters. Fig. 3 shows a double-cased boiling-pan heated by a steam coil D<3> and electric heaters E<1>. In a modification, Fig. 4, which may be used as a boiler or as a heater for kettles or other utensils which fit the inner vessel, steam is admitted to the jacket and electric heaters E<2> are fitted.
