Abstract

22,259. Adams, W. S. Nov. 7, 1913, [Convention date]. Axle-trucks and bogies.-To damp the movement of the truck bolster, chiefly the lateral swing but to a lesser extent the vertical movement also, and to keep it from contact with the transoms, links 19 adapted to pivot both in the horizontal and vertical direction extend between the bolster and the truck frame, and frictional resistance to the movement of the links is produced by spring pressure imposed at the pivots. At each end of the bolster, a pair of blocks 10 is mounted to turn about vertical pivots 7, 23 on the bolster and truck frame respectively, and is forced against these members by springs 12. A pair of links 19 connected by horizontal pivots to the blocks 10 is similarly forced against these blocks by springs 21. The bolster is provided with :t projection 4 to carry the block 10 and has seats n for the usual springs p. Adjustment of the pressure of the springs 12, 21 is effected by the nuts shown.
