20,625. Vint, W. T., and Grimshaw, S. G. Oct. 6. Composition fuel.-Canna root is used as a binder in conjunction with a waterproofing- material such as pitch in briquetting coal or other fuel. Preferably a mixture in equal proportions of anthracite and dry steam and bituminous coals amounting to 94 parts is mixed with 4 parts of ground pitch, about 2 parts of canna root are then added, either dry and ground, with subsequent heating in a separate mill by the admission of steam until the mass is cooked, or in the form of a pulp which is injected with high-pressure steam, less of the canna root being required in the latter case.
