Abstract

191,416. Bailey, W. S. July 15, 1921. Pins, dowel and like.-A dowel a for use in making doweljoints in place of mortice and tenon joints and dovetail joints in constructional woodwork and furniture by keying together the parts e, f, to be joined is reinforced by a metal sleeve b. The reinforcing sleeve b is slit lengthwise in a straight line &c., and may be serrated, corrugated &c. The pin or dowel a may be oval or polygonal in section in which case the sleeve may be tapered at their ends to facilitate insertion. In operation the sleeve is inserted in a prepared hole for about half its length and expanded in position by driving in a previously glued pin.
