Abstract

11,336. Annand, R. C. Nov. 22, 1913. Delivery apparatus. - Folding-apparatus for imparting two additional folds to previously folded printed products, comprises two folders with reciprocating or vibrating grippers cooperating with fixed folding-blades to give two successive parallel folds and deliver the product. The sheets from the previous folding mechanism are carried by tapes 1 against stops into position over a fixed blade 2 by which they are folded into spring grippers 3 on a slide s reciprocated on guides s<1> by a lever 8, 16 and a link 9 connected to a crank on a disk 10, driven by suitable gearing such as 12, 13, 14, &c. The upward movement of the grippers brings the sheet into position vertically against a fixed blade 18, and, in order to position the second fold as desired, the upward movement of the grippers is adjustable by a curved slot in the arm 16, by which the end of the rod 9 is adjustably fixed. The grippers 2 are opened to release the sheet by an adjustable cam 17. The sheet is folded against the blade 18 by grippers 19 carried by arms 19<a> on a shaft 20 rocked by a rod 21 and crank-pin. Rollers 22, 23 fold the wings of the sheets together as they are moved awa.y from the blade by the grippers. The grippers 19 are opened by a cam 24 to deposit the sheets on delivery tapes, or as shown, in counted batches in receptacles on an apron 25 moved intermittently bv means of a pinion 26 and segment 28<a> on a disk 29 driven by worm gear 31 from a suitable part of the printing-machine.
