10,988. Munden, J. May 4. Spray carburettors.-A comparatively rich mixture is formed which is subsequently diluted with air admitted by a suction-actuated valve. The body portion 2 has screwed into it a plug 6 provided with an air-passage 6<1> and carrying a fuelneedle 9, and a plug 22 through which is a fuel-passage 25. The plug 6 is enlarged internally at 10 and externally has a reduced portion 13 which is enlarged at its lower end 42<1>. The lower end of the plug 6 is also tapered at 43, 44 around the fuel-outlet 26. Air for mixing with the spray enters by the passages 18, 29, and the air flow past the jet is adjusted by-rotating the plug 6, which is provided with elastic packing 30. The air entering through 6', in conjunction with the several baffling-devices, produces a good mixture which in passing to the engine through the passages 36, 34, 42 is diluted with air entering by the automatic valve 37.
