C o a l - cutting machines.-The shanks of cutters of coal - cutting machines, and the sockets into which they fit, are formed of oval or substantially oval section, the major axis of the section being in any direction with regard to the direction of cutting. The shanks B and sockets may be of uniform section or may taper, and means may be provided for preventing endlong displacement.
