Abstract

Code-signalling mechanism ; lamp, electric-lamp, and flash signals.-Relates to flash-light signalling systems of the kind in which a switch member is employed, and comprising a rotatable drum provided on its periphery with detachable make-andbreak elements arranged in accordance with the signal to be transmitted. According to the present invention, the switch member comprises a cylindrical or conical drum v rotatable within a casing w with one or more circumferential rows of conducting and insulating members z of spherical or like formation, as shown. The brushes for contacting with the members z may each be in the form of an inverted thimble j<1> surrounded by an insulating-collar l<1>, the elements being arranged in circuit with the signalling-apparatus, which may comprise an electric lamp, lamp and shutter, or a movable mirror, such as is used in heliograph apparatus. The elements z may be fed separately and in proper sequence from separate hoppers a<111>, Fig. 3, by a finger-operated slide element c', which has an extension i<1> to prevent the delivery of more than one element at a time when the member c' is depressed.
