Abstract

27,028. Baudot, J. Nov. 26, 1912, [Convention date]. Movable-abutment type; working-fluid supply. -In a rotary internal-combustion engine of the geared-vane type working on the four-stroke cycle, one set of vanes 2 is carried by a rotary cylinder 1 which is secured to the main shaft 12; the other set of vanes 4 is so geared to the cylinder 1 that they act as abutments for the vanes 2 and assist also in rotating the cylinder 1. This gear comprises planet pinions 16, 17 which mesh with a stationary sun-wheel 15 and are mounted in a closed casing 14 which acts as a lubricant shield and, according to this invention, is secured to the rotary cylinder 1. Secured to the pinions 16, 17 are cranks 18, 19, which are connected by links 22, 23 to arms 20, 21 carried respectively by sleeves 8, 10. These sleeves 8, 10 carry the two pairs of vanes 4 by means of arms 5, 6. Each cylinder compartment bounded by a pair of partitions 2 is provided with a conduit 3, the inner end of which registers in turn with the supply and exhaust chambers 26, 27 of a stationary distributing-ring 24. The supply chamber 26 is made considerably larger than the exhaust chamber 27 in order to cool the ring 24, which can be given a small rotary movement to adjust the cut-off. Steam &c. may he used as the working fluid.
