Abstract

26,192. Dominy, W. E. Nov. 15. Boat-disengaging gear.-Apparatus for attaching a boat to the davit tackle, and automatically releasing the boat when it is waterborne, comprises tongs M, the ends of which are provided with flat plates F and projections E which engage with recesses FA in gunwale plates. When the loaded boat is on the tongs, the spring A arranged between the upper portion of the tongs is kept in compression ; but the tongs fly apart when the boat is waterborne. A safety catch B prevents accidental release of the tongs. The apparatus is intended for use with a single davit.
