Abstract
25,955. Kaplan, V. Nov. 12. Combined-flow type.-In turbines &c. with radial guide-blades S1, Fig. 1, for the admission of the motive fluid, the guideblades project into the vane space so that their edges discharge, as indicated by the arrows 1, 2, both radially and axially on to the rotor vanes R1, R3. In a modification, the guide-blades S1, Fig. 3, are surrounded on three sides by vanes R1, R2, R3, the arrows 1, 2, 3 indicating the direction of flow. In further modifications, the radial-flow vanes R1 are dispensed with, and the guide-blades S1, which project as far as the rotor hub, discharge the fluid in a substantially axial direction. The invention is applicable also to centrifugal pumps &c.
