Cocoa preparations; tea, coffee, and cocoa substitutes.-Dried malt wort, prepared by mashing malt, to which rice or maize flakes may be added, at 140-150‹ F., heating to 180‹ F., and boiling and evaporating the wort, is mixed with saccharine, glucose, and dextrinous non-fermentable malt flour (prepared by heating starch) for forming tablets for making beverages. Cocoa shells, cocoa powder containing cocoa butter, herbs, seeds, roots, or fruits may be added as flavourings. Caramel may be added for colouring, and glycerine for rendering the compounds plastic. The beverages may be made by the addition of hot water, milk, and sugar.
