[Cognate Application, 15,539/13.] Zeolites.-In the production of zeolites by the wet method, very dilute solutions of the reagents (sodium aluminate and sodium silicate) are employed. An example mentions 6 lb. of sodium sulphate, 12 gallons of water, 844 c.c. of a solution of alumina containing 45À6 grm. of alumina, and 315 grm. of waterglass solution at 45‹ BÚ. containing 75 grm. of silica.. The precipitate is allowed to settle, the mother liquor is poured off, and the precipitate is washed and then pumped to a filter-press; or it may be washed in the filter. The cake is dried, broken up, and hydrated in hot water. The mother liquor may be treated with an acid such as sulphuric acid, and made into a 5 per cent solution for use again; or more soda may be added so that it will form sodium aluminate of the right concentration for use again, when an aluminium salt is added.
