Feeding, winding, and registering webs.-In apparatus for cleaning, stretching, pressing, and finishing cloth, the cloth is stretched both transversely and longitudinally before being wound. A cloth bale 6 is mounted in slotted supports 2 and rests on rollers 5. The cloth is led between guide-rods 11 to brushing-apparatus and thence to stretching and pressing apparatus, comprising a smooth rod 37, oppositely grooved rods 39, 38, and a series of rollers 21 .. 25 geared together and driven from a shaft 29. The rollers 21, 22 have the same diameter and those of the other rollers progressively increase so that the cloth is stretched in its passage. The rollers 22, 23 are steam-heated. The cloth from the rollers is led under a roller 50, over a roller 51, and under a roller 71 on a pivoted arm to a roller 64 mounted in slotted supports 62 and resting on rollers 65, 66 driven from the shaft 29.
