Doors for passenger vehicles. - A silencer or rattling-preventing device for motor-vehicle doors consists of a resilient ring or disk, embraced by a pair of spring arms carried by a plate secured to the edge of the door &c. or its frame in such a manner that when the door &c. is closed, the ring or disk and its arms pass between and are compressed by the sides of a U-shaped or rectangular frame secured to the door frame or door. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the rubber, leather, or other resilient ring f is arranged on a post d on a baseplate c secured to the edge of the door a and is embraced by spring arms g<1> of a metal strip g encircling a second post e on the plate c. When the door is closed, the ring passes between and is compressed by the sides h of a frame secured to the door frame b and the front of the ring engages the end h<1> of the frame to act as a buffer. In the modification shown in Fig. 8, the spring strip g is riveted to a post i on the plate c and the ring f is shaped as shown. In this form, the post d may be dispensed with.
