Abstract

5760. Tyler, G. M. March 8. Impact pulverizers. - Apparatus for disintegrating, screening, and blending deliquescent, pasty, and other manures, minerals, clays, chemicals, &c., comprises a fixed conical feedplate 13, rotary beaters, bars, or knives 14, one or more rotary intercepting-plates 17, and a pyramidal or tapering screen having fixed or removable sides 5. The screen shown consists of eight sieves 5 supported by T-bars 4 converging to an outlet ring 6 to which a shoot 7 is attached. The casing 1 and bars 4 are fixed to a ring 3 carried by channel-irons 8. The beaters 14 and the intercepting - plate 17 are fastened to disks on a vertical shaft 9, which is driven by a pulley 12 and is mounted in bearings 10, 11, beneath the feed-cone 13. Covers are attached to a ring or tube 19 into which the feed-shoot 20 delivers. According to the Provisional Specification, there may be several screens and series of beaters, the intercepting- plates may be driven in the opposite direction, the screen or screens may be rotated, and a pair of rolls or other crushing-apparatus may also be provided.
