Abstract

1771. Tooth, L. F. Jan. 22. Atmospheric gas burners.-A heating-burner of the type described in Specification 29,163/10 comprises a conical secondary mixing-chamber a fitted with a conical valve c, the inlet d to the chamber being arranged tangentially with respect to the chamber and merging gradually into the end of the chamber so as to direct the gaseous mixture along a helical path. In one form, the valve c, Fig. 2. is carried by an adjusting-screw f passing through the detachable cap e of the burner in which the inlet d is cast, the inlet pipe h being parallel or at right-angles to the axis of the burner. The valve may have a cylindrical portion working in a recess or chamber formed in or attached to the base of the chamber a. The mixing-chamber and the valve c may be both made annular as shown in Fig. 7 in order to produce a hollow flame. The base of the valve c may be inclined similarly to the inlet d, and is then formed with teeth engaging a toothed pinion m, so that the valve can be adjusted relatively to the outlet by rotating it.
